2001

As with all years, things just get bigger. Bigger joy, bigger disapointment. 2001 was no different. So then, I suppose a month by month analysis is in order. Actually, that seems rather dull. So then, the good, the bad, and well the ugly (maybe).

I built my own computer, from scratch and got it to work.

I think that's the main lot. Things changed a bit this year. At the begining where there were 5, now there are 3. And where there were 4, now there are 3. I don't feel this is the place to dicuss those matters, as it is not something open for discussion. It simply is. Even as bad and as painful as it is, it is.

The|ecronom, once a great website created by me died. You can see it in the numbers. Hits just went down and down. I tried to liven things up a bit with a complete relaunch, using a great backend system but that just made things worse. A terrible year for the site. In May it died. The host just died on us. To make things worse I was taking my last ever exams at uni. It really didn't help to think that while taking those exams, my site was just dying and there was nothing I could do to change that. I just had to work.

I don't regret anything that's happend this year. There's no point. It happened, I am where I am. I have what I need to go further in life, which is 2002. 2002 will again be a year of bigger. Its possible I could leave home and go live in some strange part of the UK. Its also possible I could end up working in Tescos staking shelves. But I would kill myself before that day.

It's funny really. While I don't regret the past, I do dwell on it too much. I suppose theres only one thing I regret. Yes, it is that. That bag of narbles I keep wrapped up in a little dark corner. Thats the one. Other than that...nuffin.

K, so assuming BT say yey then I should be ISDN'd in a week or so. I'm just sick of crappy 150-200 (or 250-300) pings as I'm gettin. Specially since peeps get 50 or so. Kinda annoyin that. So I dug around BT a bit and someone said there's no plans to upgrade my exchange for ADSL. Pffft! Bad BT! You go to hell, you goto hell and you DIE!. Good ol NTL are also bein gay by not installin cable here either. So I can live without 512k/bps for another year, I mean its not like that important. But playing online is summin I do each nite, and I want to get better, but with a kak ping its kinda hard. And now the clan is split into to. LSR Alpha & LSR Omega. We have an A team and a B team. Which is cool cos I'll get to play more Kinda scared of playin in the leagues cos I know i'd hold the team back, and I don't wanna do that. But if I get ISDN, a good ping, and more praccy...hopefully my confidence will build up a wee bit and I'll whoop some lpb ass!

Speaking of Q3. I had like the best ever game this mornin. Around 2:30am Me, Leo and KRY-Bola against sno, p0rt and KRY-CHROM. Talk about one hell of a match. We were red, and the others..yep u guessed it blue So us red's 0wned totally for most of the matches. A clear lead of like 10 - 4 or so. I couldn't believe it. I was actually on the winning side, and doing well too. Just a few points behind Le0 who has cable So it gets to 20-20 Its the first to 25. And were like, reds rox0r blues sux0r No messin now as sno pummels us a bit with his rail gun 23-23 :0 !! 24-23 !! 24-24!!!! OMFG!! Talk about tense stuff. A massive battle rages over the yellow armour in q3dm6, just near the rocket launcher. sno was first out...phew Then me, then le0. Leaving Bola (red) and CHROM (blue) to decide the title .... .... and ... yes!! BOLA BOLA!! He did it. OMG We won!! YEAH! YEAH!! I dunno what happened that night. Maybe it was the crackers I had, or cos it was late. But some how I was playin the best i had ever played. Thats why I want a low ping. Then I'll know that its only my skills holding me back, not my connection

All Time Worldwide Box Office shows the current top 200 films of all time. Dietanic is at the top with a massive $1,8354.4 (million) followed by Star Wars: The Dennis the Menace at $925.6 (million), don't forget to pronounce it mill-e-yon dollars . LoTR still isn't in the top 100, but its only been out 2 weeks so far. Plus its not about the money.

So LoTR for a 3rd time. Still as class as the first, maybe a little better actually. The first time you see it your just knocked off yer feet. It's breathtaking. The second time you watch it to see what you missed first time. By the third time its just about the characters. By now you've fallen in love with them. They just soo good. That's how I felt. When Gandalf says his first line, "A wizard is never late Frodo Baggins." Awww Classic. I dunno bout the rest of you but I might rate the LoTR as my number one fave film of all time. Yes even beating The Matrix & Star Wars. LoTR has absolutly everything in it. Its bloody awesome. While at the cinema I bumped into Mr. Pollard my old IT teacher from Pensby High School For Chicken Wings. He said hi, and then bye Must have been late for a film. I also saw a guy from CIS at JMU come into LoTR. And...I also bumped into some relatives. Yes those people Been a while. And.....I thought I saw Dr. Bobby there, but it was a bad clone of him.

They had a trailer for this film called, The Rat Race, which looks very funny. It's a blatent rip off of Its a mad mad mad mad world, but still looks good. Well, could be good. It has a huge cast. Like every person with a line is famous. Hard to say whether its good or not really. The trailer was hysterical, I couldn't breathe by the end. They also had the trailer for Spiderman. I already downloaded this, and it looks iffy. It could be quite good, a fun film. Usual summer blockbuster. But it could be a little toooo comic book. A little too cheesy. It does have Kursten Dunst in a wet t-shirt scene

I went back to that cheap toy store and almost got the 6 quid Darth Maul thing. But I thought, well Ep1 is old news. I wanted it then maybe, but now well. Gandalf is ma man guardin me desk now. Maully, your time has passed. I did get a DBZ finger skateboard for 2 quid. Ian got a lightsabre and wasn't afraid to use it. Outside. In front of peeps. Swinging it Jedi style. Ooookay. I took Devil May Cry back and got a PS2 mag, which I still haven't opened and have no real idea whats on it. And I got LoTR soundtrack to go with the book while reading it.

Been a fun few days recently, as you can see from the big ass posts I keep making. Guess I finally have something to talk about.

Xmas time, missing a toe and crime If you live in the North End that is hehe. So what did Satan Claws bring me? Well hehe. I got a genuine Intel Pocket Concert. Those little imps at Intel have made an mp3 player with 128mb ram. All those sheep! And its teeny. The sound isn't as good as my Sony CD & MD players, but its still good. I also got the lightining in a ball thing. Which reacts nicely with the Moby DVD I got Its pretty funky. The beat causes lightining to appear. I also got a quite large Gandalf model. A certain Earth burner got me the Lord of The Rings book. And its huge!! 1000 pages! I plan to read it. No really I do plan to read it. Well the first part anyway Somehow hehe.

In other news I went back to Win2k after XP having one too many little annoying glitches, that should hopefully be resolved in SP1. One is when I exit Q3 and the machine freezes. Nice. Another is the sound drivers causing the odd bluescreen. Which ain't good. There were a few other reasons, but I forget. A slight glitch arose tho. I quite liked Windows Media Player 8. It had a few nices features that I would utilize. Importing Winamp playlists, good radio tuner thing, ability to create 70min long random playlists from anything in my 10gb collection, some nice skins, etc. Plus I could just press a button and dump my playlist on my mp3 player. So a technical glitch arose. No WMP8 in Win2k So I tried RealOne. Kak. MusicMatch Jukebox. Eh. So so. Then I remembered something. There was a ripped version of WMP8 for Win2k out. Cool, downloaded and it works. Sweet. Next was to get the addon pack to work. Ran the exe, "This is only for WinXP"...gits! Manually extracted the files, ran setup again. It worked Hahaha. Take that Moft! Other than that, Win2k is fine. Although I did accidently loose my huge faves folder Ah well, good to start from scratch.

Last bit of news, and its a bigun. From what I posted on OCUK Forums after the incident.

"Here's a good start to Xmas, a kitchen fire. Seems that Evil Santa from Futurama just paid us a visit. I was just browsin the forums when me sis shouts "FIRE!!", opening my door i find its all cloudy n smokey. Running downstairs and the sausage pan was a blaze. Like 2 foot high flames!!! Luckily me Dad got there first with the blanket thing and put the thing out. Phew indeed. Total damage, 1 frying pan, part of a box of tin foil and a few leaves of a plant. Talk about lucky...or well prepared Luckily I'd seen plenty of films with fires in to know not to open any doors/windows until it was out too. Didn't realise how bad the smoke of a fire could actually be. Still a little coughing with it like 20 mins later. The worst part, the stoopid smoke alarm. Wah wah wah wah. Yes I get the picture Ran and took out the batteries cos it was too annoying during all the comotion.

Yeah i never thought that sausages would be the end of me Nice that we have Xmas to look forward too n all hehe. On further inspection you can see part of the wallpaper is burnt and so is the cieling. Nuther few mins and coulda been a lot worse. "

Upon further inspection of the front door. I literally broke one of those door chains. You know the type that you put on when your not sure who the guy is at the door, so you can open it just enough. I tried to undo it but it wouldn't come off. So I opened the door and somehow pulled it off! Either it was complete kak, or I went super sayian for a mo On further thought of the whole incident, I feel glad to have a nice(ish) Xmas. It might have been at some hotel trying to find a new place to live.

Just got in from seeing LoTR a 2nd time More more more!! I wanna see it again!!! "YOU....CANNOT....PASS!!!" The film is flawless. Also found that the toy store in Cheshire Oaks, the Entertainer has loads of cheap Star Wars, Dragonball Z and Pokemon stuff. Huge Darth Maul figure for only 6 quid. Tempted to get one, but trying to go there during the day will be impossible this close to Xmas.

I completely forgot bout some things i did. On Wednesday I went to Chip Shop 2000 and played on...a GAMECUBE!! Pikmin to be precise. The controller is luverly. Feels nice. Pikmin is mad. But fun. Gfx are good, but the tv i saw it on was kak I saw Halo too on the Xbox. Looks very nice. Really sharp clean gfx. Better than PS2 and PC. Very very polished game.

While at the cinema, the trailers kicked in. Guess what I saw. Yep, the Episode 2 trailer. Tried as I did not to see it, I knew by going to the cinema I would. At least I saw it on the big screen first time and not a little mpg on the PC. The film looks ok, bit too luvy duvy stuff tho. Ooooh Annie oooh Queeeny. Is that a lightsabre or are you just pleased to see me. Looks good, but its no LoTR Hopefully the film will be 30 mins of luv stuff, then 1hr 30mins of Star Wars action. That way I'll wait outside and come in after 30 mins

So then, the past few days Been gooduns. Where to start. Yesterday me thinks. Well as you know I've been downloadin DBZ episodes. Got over 22 now, but can't find any more I went shoppin for a few things too. I accidently bought Devil May Cry for the PS2. Big mistake. Is this the coolest game or what! I mean frickin cool is not a cool enough term. Graphics are top notch. Lighting effects too. The way it plays is simply class. I love the way you walk into a large room, see that there's loads of bad guys, and then just do a Neo style call em over wave with yer hand. One of them comes over, ka-boom goes my boom stick. 1st guy is toast. Quick jump in the air and I drop down with my charged sword. 2nd guy toast. Another jump, ka-boom 3rd guy toast. Then as I land I swing my sword round and chop up the 4th guy. It just plays sooo smoothly. If you've played Soul Callibur and know how cool that is, then you'll understand how sweet it plays. As if that wasn't the coolest part, you can also go into Devil mode. So like when one of the end of level baddies appears, and says "Yadda yadda yadda...all powerfull...me waste you....blah blah", you just say "C'mon then." Couple of shots with yer boom stick, few swipes with yer sword and he's a bit hurt. He taunts, and you stand there all cool n calm. Then you charge at him with yer sword, sudden flash and you glow all blue...charged with electricity. Jump up in the air and then coming down with a powerful swipe, clang!! A few more swipes and the guy is toast. Then you power down to conserve energy. He never had a chance. Hahahaha. This game is soooo good. I'll be dissapointed to finish it. The episode of SG1 that was on was annoyingly good. Great cliffhanger, and the damn people in the clouds, you know Sky, said you'll see the next part on Jan 9th!! Gimps!! Evil sky monkey hags!!

So that brings me to today. Whatever day it is. Oh yer Thorsday. I saw Lord of The Rings. Did it live upto my expectations....are you kidding? It surpassed my expectation by like the hugest amount of surpassing an expecation can surpass. This film not only rocked, but it rolled tool. It is a very poweful film. Not only full of action, but full of emotion too. It flows beautifully. Never a dull moment. I mean NEVER!!! In the 3hrs it is long, NEVER!!! Total entertainment. The only way this film could be better is....erm....if I could take it home and watch it again right now. I wouldn't waste my time here thats for damn sure. If you've seen the film, you know what I'm saying. Quick msg for Dave and Ian. Nah nah na nah nah. Told ya so. That other fantasy film that's around now, you know the little gay one with the kids n stuff. It is nothing, and I mean NOTHING compared to LoTR. I said so so I said. My fave part, Gandalf and the Ballrog. You know it. I can emphasize how incredible this film is. The hype is deserved. And how could I forget about Gollum. Silly me. My preeeecccioussssss. Don't believe me...check this site to see what I mean. Don't worry, no spoilers just some quotes from all the reviews. 3 bad...84 good. Can't stress it enough. You must watch it.

Lastly I watched a very cool episode of DBZ. Vegeta, who you know is pure evil, did something slightly outa character. What I mean by slightly is that he sacraficed his life for his family. The proud Sayian prince who spent the past 10 years being enraged by Goku's strength actually hugs his son goodbye and released all his power in an attempt to kill Majin Buu. He knew it wouldn't work and asked Picollo whether he would meet Goku in the afterlife to continue his fight. Picollo said since he'd spent his life causing pain he wouldn't keep his body as a reward for being good and pure of heart. Vegeta was disapointed, but continued with his plan. It was very well done.

Well that's pretty much it. I'm off to check for more DBZ episodes, and then play some DMC.

1 week to go! And I just found summin to get for Xmas. Asuming that I can find em tomorrow Had a fun day today. I finally decoded the episode numbers on the Dragonball Z downloads on Kazaa. So I've downloaded about 10 eps so far. All continuing from where Cartoon Network stopped showing them. 2 weeks worth of new eps in a day Luverly. Annoyingly tho, it takes bout 2 hours to get a 20 min ep. So in between I've been playing Empire Earth and ST: Armada 2. In EE i get creamed all the time. That damned AI!! It seems to instantly take over 90% of the map, then build up huge powerful armies and the wipe me out. All of me! Been playin alot of ST:Armarda too (get the pun? 2 - too I've found that the Borg are clearly the best race in the game. I mean you can send a fleet of cubes to an enemy base, set the ai on the correctly and they'll try and assimilate things then destroy the base. Which is ace. They take over half the enemy and use it against the peeps. Cooool. Plus you have transwarp gates so you can bypass any defences. They're way better than the others. Ok so the Klingys are cool cos you can have cloaked fleets just lying round the enemy bases without em knowing. The Federation is ok, the coolest bit is just that its Starfleet ships. Cardys, Romulans, Species 90210 are bit plain really. In other news I stole an FBI car in GTA3 Not all its cracked up to be tho. Just good to get one. Tried to get some new trainers, but they aren't out till end of Jan. Nuts to them! Got all my Xmas shopping done in 4 hours yesterday Well, 2 really. Other 2 was spent waiting at the bank, and waiting at Car Phone Whorehouse for Dave. I got Dad's, sisters, and Daves Piece of pie in da eye says I!

Oh and LoTR!!! Me & that film Thursday. Oh yeah.

I just noticed I made a joke. "It's like snow man" Its like snowman! Hahah, completely by mistake. I was going for the stone 60's hippy style talk. Whoa, snow! Or maybe Keanu Reves style talk. Oh and if the snow breaks on ur screen, it's cos I ha><0red the code. Pay for Javascript? Pffft.

Hehe Too add (or maybe take away if its too cheesy) to the magic I've spruced up the old web-stead to have a more Xmasy feel. Yes I basically went to the fridge, grabbed some cheese covered it with html tags and uploaded it So we got snow, Xmas styled Konoko from Oni, and a little Snowman pointer Let the cheese continue. Who knows, maybe i'll throw in some midi's, anim gifs and move to geocities. Not!

So it's thursday is it. I think. Yeah must be cos SG1 was on last night and its the next day, so yer its Thursday. What have I done since Monday. Cleaned me room. Got a new keyboard. Got a Xmas card from FairyKat Saw an ad for Princess Monoko on DVD and was very tempted to get even tho I ain't seen it. LSR did very well last night too which is ace news. I watched 28 Days on Tuesday. Twas ok, nuffin special. Not really enticing or nuffin. Going to the JMU Careers place the saffy to see what they have. Not that they'll have anything tho. GayMU! Played a bit of Star Trek Armarda 2 last night. Annoying the AI was set to bloody easy and the Borg didn't really pose much of a challenge. 2 Cubes! That was it. 2 measly cubes. I had like 6 fleets. I spent much of the game sittin round waiting for them to build up a large armarda. They did eventually, but they got creamed cos I'm totally l33t I think I'll play it again today and see what happens. Fun game. Oh I also got a new mouse pad. The Ratzpad erm pad. Cost a bit more than a normal one, say about £15. But its very nice to mouse over with my IntelliEye Explorer. It's meant to help with railing people in Quake 3 too. Here's hoping. That's hope-ing not hop-ing...i think ? Oh, don't forget (yes blatent spam here) that you can sign up for my news letter type non spam thing. So no posts since Friday then. Why? Well I didn't really feel upto posting my usual jolly old stuff. Do I now? Well no not really, but I noticed the site is getting around 70 hits a day so I might as well tell you folks that it's still going. Unlike some I don't remember Saturday much, oh wait I watched "Any Given Sunday". Some parts of the film were ok, others felt like a mismatch between the plot and an attempt at stylish imagery. Little tip Mr. Oliver Stone, it didn't work. Sunday. Sunday I found out that D@v0y has left LSR He'll be missed, but he is sticking round to boast how l33t his 4mbit cable net connection is. In other news I was looking forward to seeing the 51st State. It had a good cast, set in Liverpool, and was filmed outside my sisters shop in parts. I watched it, smiled once or twice throughout the film and left. It didn't affect me at all. Maybe it was funny and I just wasn't in the mood to have fun. Which is probably true. I was hoping the film would raise my spirits, but it didn't. Shame. Hopefully LoTR will next week. Monday. I got a new desk which I built my self. That was actually fun cos it was summin I don't really do. I watched a bit of the Matrix, and some of Gladiator. That was pretty much it. Oh we got a new carpet too, and I played some GTA3 and found if you put the turret on the tank the other way round you can get that thing to really shift. So the time is 11:11pm, I gotta clear my bed and well thats pretty much it.

Broke the 300,000 score mark on THPS3 with 112,975 points in 25 tricks. Smoking.

I think i'm definetly gettin better at Q3. I got a few frags in against Tek, Dav and FairyKat. Need more practice...more more!! In other news i think I'll have to reinstall Windows tomorra. Seems to be playin up a bit. Probably due to over cloggin.

This is kinda depressing. For some reason the daily visits to http://egnuk.com have dropped from 326 in May to 86 in Nov. I guess we just can't compete with the already well established sites. Most of the hits we get are from people looking for old content, not wanting to get the news. Plus trying to get peeps to write for the site seems impossible. I dunno what todo really. Continue working and paying for it for the 3 or 4 peeps who actually check it? The site needs to have more of a twist, something no-ones done before. That's what will bring people in. Not just doing the same news that everyone else does. Not that I have any idea what that is, it's never been done before.

I got THPS3, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3. Initial impressions were less than good. It looked a bit better than DC version. The levels are bigger, which is good. But I just didn't seem happy with it. It seemed to be same old moves n stuff. But today something snapped. I've gotten used to doing Manual's and Reverts. True that Manuals were in the 2nd, but I couldn't do em then. Maybe its the PS2 controller? Grinds are easier todo on it. Speaking of grinds, on some levels you can grind from one end of the level to the other. I know peeps who have. Scores of 300,000 on on move! Fudge me. Speaking of scores....grin

How ace is that. I've spent like 3 hours trying to get a score of over 150,000. And did. This game has given me such an adreliline rush too. I can't remember the last that got me this worked up. The level design is spot on. Some of the stuff I've done, its simply amazing. Its good to know that now I've slightly mastered the Manuals and Reverts that Dave won't be able to touch me score wise Previous games on the DC were close, but now 71,000 in one go. Come on. This is the maddest game ever. Basically the aim is to roger somone! No kiddin. You get a finger and an ass and well, guess. You can choose to roger, your ex, a gangster, a gold digger, mother-in-law, prostitute, child molester, or a con artist. I think a big WTF! is needed here. How could anyone goto an arcade and casually stand there rogering an arcade machine! Let me just again WTF!! And erm, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. What next? A racing game where the winner is the faster to erm, spank the monkey.
