Its just so wrong. OSX running on a WinXP machine via PearPC. Its hard to belive, but there it is. Fully networked, slow as hell, but there it is. It'll be handy if we ever have any files that need to be run on a Mac at work, or Safari testing. But it just feels wrong.
Richard Biggs who played Dr Franklin on Babylon 5 has died aged 44. He was a great character in the show and will be mised. If they ever do another series, his character was went home to Earth so I guess it would be possible. A rather apt quote from season 1.
"It's all so brief, isn't it? Typical human lifespan is almost a hundred years, but it's barely a second compared to what's out there. It wouldn't be so bad if life didn't take so long to figure out. Seems you just start to get it right and then .. it's over."
I think my Hamster Chi has Wet Tail. The same thing happened to my previous hamster, Ryo and I always knew it would happen again. My parents are booking a vets appointment again for tomorrow so she can get another injection. She got one last night, but she's gotten worse since then. She has to drink 100ml of water by 6pm, which I doubt she will, so I have to try and give her her medicine later. That won't be easy, which is why I'm going to the vets again. If I'm not successful, by the weekend Chi will be dead :( Life is far to damn short!
I was lucky last time in that I was self-employed and I could sit with her till the end. Now I'm working, and I fear I will have to come home to it, or wake up to it.
Some clever person made some nifty panoramas from Futurama screen grabs. They're very cool, but if only they were a bit sharper :)
The very very handy 3D CSS Box Model shows how things are handled in current browsers by the box model. Really makes things a bit clearer.
Via Scripty Goddess comes this great Blog Software Breakdown. Definetly a great thing given the current situation.
*Mental Note: Setup side bar links thingy :)
I just found a really great site. Mac OS X vs. Windows XP. It has an incredible amount of detail over every aspect of the OS, showing how various things work on each system, comparing them to see which is best. Does the Mac win? Well.... Go have a read :)

I'll be getting the free one, I hope. $99.95 is a bit too much, I can see why they're charging as MT is the best weblog package available, but still.
Well typical. According to kevin rose dot com you can now run OSX on Windows. I just bought a Mac too! I'm sure its not as fast as my 700mhz iMac, I bloody hope it isn't :) Plus theres a nice feel you get from using the real thing, and I just ordered a 120gb drive for it, so its a great file server too. However, I'm gunna need a bigger desk :)
If I get a chance, I'm going to setup the webcam screen grabbing thing so people can see what the fuss is about :) Maybe tonight, but given the TV schedule, not bloody likely :D
So, I've got Proteus beta running and its stunning. Its really really nice. The one thing that really stands out about the Mac is the look of the OS. Its just so much more polished than Windows, even with 3rd party themes and icons. It just looks so nice. The fonts too on OSX look better than Windows.
I've also installed VLC now for video playing, and WMP9 so I can watch more E3 streams :) I also found this thing called Xbench and ran it. Dunno if thats any good, but looks fun :D
Last night I played around more on my Mac. I installed iLife 2004, with the amazing Garage Band. After about 30 mins I produced this tune. Its not amazing, but it does show how easy it is to produce a tune. I installed various irc clients, and eventually got Colloquy to work by finding the hidden secret update. Its very nice. I've installed Shape Shifter and got themes working. Next step is Candy Bar to customize icons.
Accessing Windows Network Shares is so easy. Its easier to get a Mac to talk to XP than XP is to XP. One thing I've noticed, it is slow, but not like Windows. Windows gets all sluggish, and bits redraw here and there. The Mac takes its time and boom, its there. Oh, I installed AdiumX, which is great but it bombs out when you move people in their groups. Hopefully I can test it more tonight as it seems very nice. iTunes is running and plays all my music from my PC. I need to test the CDRW stuff, as I tried last night and iTunes didn't like my HP 12x CDRW. I don't need the CDRW per say, but its nice if it works.
I think my Mac will mainly be a PHP server, if I get that running :) I'll run MSN on the mac, maybe IRC too. Not quite sure where its all going but hey :) Always handy to be able to irc while playing ET without alt+tab. Oooh yer, Expose is seriously amazing, even on this iMac.
I found a review of my iMac Special Edition. It includes some info on what I've got and a pic :) I'll be posting more pics when I can tear myself away from it. I'm also trying to name it, and I have got Panther installed finally :)
Today is the day. I've wanted an Apple Mac for about 5 years now. Today I visited a man who was selling his, and I bought it. I think it was fate. At the begining of last week I was listening to the Independance Day soundtrack, and then I was in Borders and saw it in the 2 for £22 sale. I watched it and remembered how "important" the Mac was in that film :) I had only just got paid on Thursday, and I found the advert by searching OcUK for "apple" for fun. The fact that the guy lived close made it all the better. It was meant to be :D
Its currently running OSX 10.1, and I need to get Panther on there asap for Safari and the other features. I had great fun with the voice recognition. "Computer, tell me a joke". "Knock knock." "Computer, who's there" :DDD How cool is that! You can also just press the power button on the front and it instantly goes to standby, and the power light glows so perfectly. They keyboard is definetly the best I've ever used. The mouse is also nice, even given the 1 mouse button.
It still hasn't really sunk in. "I've got a Mac!!!"
I get so many referers from cafe53.daum.net. I got an email from someone there, but its in Japanese, or something. The paranoia in me wants to know wtf they are talking about :)
I found this nice site in my referers, linky linky :) I've added it to my RSS Reader, and eventually I'll fix my blogroll :)
I found out via Neil's World that the Friday 5 is no more. I haven't used it for a while, but still, tis a shame. My first meme. So I figure I'll just do this one for fun. Although, its a tad too American.
Thanks to the people on OcUK they've made a tips n tricks thread for Firefox. It's really really well worth reading.
I've created a new category, Firefox :) I plan to move my blog from a more random position, to a more structured content blog. Firefox news and promotion for a start. Without further ado, heres some extensions you should be using.

I'm sure they don't, it doesn't make good business sense for them to support something they can't control. This article is great for those that still think MS are gods gift to the PC.
Another great article on Web Standards by mezzoblue. It has loads of great links to all the best articles around.
