So then. In the news today we have;
For gods sake, its just a mad week and yet people still like to use IE. Just get Firefox and don't worry about it.
The Reg is reporting on viruses that are hacking web servers and then hacking you via IE. *gasp* Switch now to Firefox before its too late.
I visited the great ColourScape this weekend. It was amazing. Check my gallery for more images.
It really is getting bad out there. The amount of spyware that can be installed via IE is just stupid. People really should switch to Firefox.

Good stuff :)
Found an intresting article onWeb Accessibility and the DDA from a lawyers perspective. Its a long, and I'm sure, informative read.
So we saw HP3. I didn't like it as you can see from my previous entry. Ian has been pushing for me to see it. Matt was lucky he was in France. Ian is still pushing for me to read the books, to which I have declined. I suppose its not very different from me asking friends to watch something I really like, but I have given it over 6 hours, which is more than can be said of Anime. Maybe they've watched over 6 hours worth of Anime in total (which I doubt), but given the broad spectrum of Anime thats about as good as saying "I watched 6 hours of British TV". At best theres only been snippets here and there. Have we ever watched an episode of Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangellion, Ghost in the Shell, Lian, Full Metal Panic, Initial D, Hellsing, Chobits, Blue Gender, Martian Successor Nadesico, or Dragonball Z? 6 hours to a 22 minute show.... Guess I'm just too closed minded...or wrong...
So I saw the 3rd film. I still don't like it. Apparently JK Rowling didn't rip off her characters, so I guess I can't dislike it for that reason. Maybe I dislike it simply because I dislike it. Ian keeps telling me to read the books, but I don't see how that would be any more different than seeing the films. I've seen 3 films and haven't warmed to the story, how would reading 5 books be any different? Words on a page, own imagination n all that, but still if I simply don't like it and it doesn't gel with me, the books won't make any difference.
Its nothing to do with loosing touch with my inner child as I'm a massive Anime fan and Spirited Away is one of the most magical stories I've ever seen. Now that film is simply incredible. Characters that draw you in so that by the end of it your a bit teary-eyed. Harry Potter just doesn't do that for me. I found it full of stereotypes, similar in a way to what Disney do I guess. Lots of words like Scary Shack, Tango Town, Jumping Jilly, words for kids. Yes its a kids book, but I think I find it a tiny bit patronising....maybe.
Roald Dahl, CS Lewis, The Iron Giant, they're true classics imho. They're the books I'll remember as being magical stories that make you feel like a kid again. I'm not saying she can't write a book, I never have, I just don't find it works for me.
I won't go and see HP4, theres no point. If 6 hours didn't convince me, another 2 won't. As for broadining my mind, well Derren Brown was certainly intresting and certainly broadend my mind on the subject of Spiritualism.
I've been saying it for a while now. Support standards as M$ are going to lock everyone into Longhorn. They will market Longhorn with an all new Internet Explorer, one which will lock you into their system even more. That scary video showing a custom Amazon Longhorn application shows just where M$ are going. Custom built applications per store that need Longhorn to run. Theres a great article called, Smoke, Mirrors and Silence: The Browser Wars Reignite, which discusses all this in-depth and is well worth a read.
Either tweak your web data to approximate standards now, or risk the cost of a massive Longhorn infrastructure upgrade in a few years' time. If you don't standardize now, you'll be forced to buy or build that Longhorn infrastructure in order to access the communities that Microsoft has managed to attract and bottle up inside Longhorn.
